Several people have asked about the garden in the picture. While I wish I could say it was mine, it was a feature garden at the 2006 Chelsea Flower Show. It was modeled on a garden designed by my Gardening Guiding Spirit, Gertrude Jekyll.
The modern designer was Chris Beardshaw. In his recreation, Jekyll’s painter’s sensibilities are illustrated in the impressionist color scheme. It’s a great garden to inspire those living with deep and narrow city lots and townhouse yards.
Here is another beautiful Jekyll-inspired Beardshaw garden.
