Honey Szechuan Green Beans

These green beans are DIVINE. The longer you cook them the better.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb fresh green beans; trimmed
a dash of salt
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
a dash of sesame oil
2 tsp honey
1/4-1/2 tsp hot chili flakes, depending on how much spice you want (I like a lot!)
1 Tbsp olive oil
a pinch of sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS

Mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, olive oil, and chili flakes. Boil water in a large pot and add beans and salt. Cover and cook, stirring once, until beans are bright green and still crunchy, 8 or 9 minutes. Drain and rinse beans in cold water. Stir soy sauce mixture and add to pan, bring to a boil, and add the beans. Cook to desired doneness.

    These are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I add some fresh garlic and black pepper. This is also good as a main dish; double the sauce and cook half of it with 2 chicken boneless chicken breasts chopped into small pieces. After the chicken is cooked, remove from the pan, cook the green beans in the remaining sauce, and then combine with chicken and serve over steamed rice.
